Priority One Shipping Tips

Please do not tape paperwork to phones or use tape to hold phones together during shipping!

Help with packing:

bulletProtect all sides with some form of packing material.
bulletUPS suggests 2 inches of packing on all sides.
bulletShredded paper inside plastic bags is much better then crumpled newspaper.
bulletUse empty boxes filled with crumpled paper for filling larger empty spaces.
bulletDouble box (several small boxes in one large box)
bulletUse free boxes from UPS, FedEx, and Priority Mail (1 and 2 day shipments)
bulletMultiple items should not move around or rub against each other inside the box.
bulletWhen done correctly the box should not collapse in at all and it would be better if it bulged out slightly. Imagine your box on the bottom of a very tall and very heavy pile of other packages!!

Boxes:

bulletFree boxes at the post office for US Priority Mail
bulletYou can buy boxes at office supply stores like Staples and Office Max
bulletHome Depot sells large boxes for moving.
bulletDo not use thin boxes, like shoe boxes or shirt boxes. They do not offer any protection or support.
bulletMany stores will give you empty boxes that they would normally pay to throw away.
bulletPost offices usually have boxes for sale.

Shipping tips:

bulletBring directly to UPS or FedEx hub (not the UPS store or other shipping services) to save on shipping cost. Shipping stores may charge you 50% to 200% more.
bulletTry calling UPS for a one time pickup: 800-742-5877 or FedEx: 800-GO FEDEX
bulletUS Priority Mail is a good choice with 1 to 4 phones for customers west of the Mississippi or when UPS or FedEx is not near by. (free boxes and tape)

What shipping service to use?
UPS? FedEx? US-Mail, etc..
