The Turbo phone has an A/B switch underneath. They are used on some of the larger systems and can have two phones attached to one station port. (One set to A and the other set to B) This requires certain large systems with special cards to use the A/B feature but they will work on any system by itself that can handle EVT phones.

The main difference between Regular and EVT phones is the volume control. The Regular ESP phones have two volume wheels on the right side. The EVT phones have a volume up and volume down buttons just under the IC and MSG buttons. EVT phones are newer and require a certain software level in your phone system so do not buy them unless you have some already or know they will work.

If you have the wrong handset type your phone will transmit low or not at all!!

Intertel changed handset types on the ESP, IMX, GLX, and GMX phones half way through production and kept the old part numbers on the new phones.

USE WITH ELECTRET HANDSET ONLY!
If the sticker on the phone says this you have to use an E1 handset!

Some ESP, GLX and GMX DVK phones say this on the bottom tag. That means they need an electret (or E1) handset. An incorrect handset will either not transmit or transmit very quiet. The easiest way to tell if you have an E1 handset is by looking just under the earpiece. You will see a rectangular notch, if E1 is printed inside the notch you have an electret handset, if not, it’s a dynamic handset.

Please note that the handset you use could be an after market handset without the E1 printed in the notch, or your phone could have been modified at some point in its life. If your phone is transmitting low or not at all try a new cord and both kinds of handsets.
