Contel Executone CX

The speaker volume gets scratchy on these phones as they get older causing the speaker to cut out. You can sometimes temporarily fix this problem by sliding the volume control back and forth a bunch of times when it is not in use.  

Setting Time and date:
You need to do this from station 100. A display phone would help.
Dial *7764 (solid tone)
Press FLASH then dial 28 on the keypad
Enter the Time and date as follows: YYMMDDHHMMSS
Example: April 13th 1999 2:35pm  is 990413143500 (for year 2000 use 00)
Then press the HOLD button. (Solid tone)
NOTE: If you have a CX 408,512,or 816 system and there is no Real Time Clock installed the time and date cannot be set and you will get an error tone (Rapid beeps)
On larger systems you have to then press FLASH, dial 80, then press HOLD to store the new information. On the small systems (408,512,816) you don't have to do anything.
