The most common problem with the Executone Contel CX telephones is the keypad. Over time the keypad contacts break down and the buttons get very hard to push. We repair or replace every single keypad on all the CX phones. There are other problems with CX phones that need to be fixed. The volume controls build up oxidation and volume can become noisy or drop out. There are also intermittent problems with solder connections, connectors, and a capacitor needs to be replaced. The housing is sturdy but turns yellow easily with exposure to light. When the Executone Contel CX phones discolor and yellow, they are very difficult to paint. There are many pieces of the housing, a pivoting display, and lettering that all make painting dificult. The handset housing chips frequently and the tabs on the snap on base tend to break off. |
