Barclay Enterprises Bad Guy Listing

  What's up with this keypad??
The original keypad made for the popular Panasonic KX-TGA400b and KX-TGA200b cordless phones was poorly designed and broke quickly in a business environment.

While we offered the only improved solution to the ramped keypad issues, Barclay Enterprises launched an attack campaign against our improved membrane keypad while falsely claiming they had improved keypads designed by Panasonic, selling hundreds of known defective keypads to unsuspecting customers.

After about a year passed,  our real improved rubber keypad was ready and the membrane keypad became obsolete... Barclay blatantly copied our membrane keypad using inferior material, claim to have "the original" and attack our improved rubber keypad.

Pad Mate Review

The Barclay Perma-Fraud
Perma-Pad™ & Pad Mate®
Willful and planned deception.
Then
& Now

This was a well planned lie, far in advance. Filing for trademarks and registered names, paperwork, web design, pictures and advertisements... even a movie! All aimed at deceiving customers while directly attacking our services.

For well over a year Barclay Enterprises claimed our membrane keypad could only break your phone and that our lifetime warranty was just a scam.

They flat out lied claiming Panasonic had redesigned their keypad solving the problems. Barclay sold hundreds of OEM keypads to unsuspecting customers with a self voiding 2-year warranty.

Overnight they re-worked all their advertising. They now admit that Panasonic's keypad is flawed after copying our keypad. Claiming their "original" membrane keypad was the only improved keypad for these phones with a lifetime warranty!

Now they sell the same product with two names. Intentionally deceptive advertising and pictures to make it look like they offer a complete improved rubber keypad.

THEN...

Just ONE of the many examples of Barclay's false statements:

bullet Don't let anyone install an allegedly "new" keypad with any sort of insert / membrane or other "fix" between the keypad and circuit board!

bullet Any foreign layer or "fix" between the keypad and the circuit board will do one of two things, and both are bad:

bullet If the foreign conductive surface is weaker than the keypad's, then it will wear away faster and your handset will actually fail earlier than if just the keypad alone had been installed!

bullet If the foreign conductive surface is stronger than the originally specified keypad's, then you risk abrading the delicate conductive layer on the circuit board. Panasonic manufactured its circuit boards specifically to withstand the soft conductive layer of their specific keypad --- and nothing more! Once a contact on your circuit board has worn away --- even if it's just for one button --- your handset is ruined. You can always have a keypad replaced, but you can never replace the circuit board. They are no longer available!

Don't let anyone turn your Panasonic cordless handset into Franken-phone

While Barclay Enterprises was attacking our keypad with laughable made up nonsense... they were simultaneously flat out lying to customers, claiming Panasonic had improved the OEM keypad design.

At Barclay, we replace your old keypad with a flawless, brand new keypad.

bullet Manufactured to the very best of Panasonic's specifications, thus eliminating any possible shortcomings of the original version.

bullet Functions perfectly by itself ... just as it should. Doesn't require the addition of any supplemental inserts / membranes or other "fixes" that can permanently damage your circuit board!
There was only one version of keypad from Panasonic and the "shortcomings" were very visible to the naked eye. Also, a new version would have had a different part number and there is no such thing.

NOW....

Not only has Barclay Enterprises blatantly copied our membrane keypad repair but they have registered not one, but TWO names for the part and claim to have "The Original" & "The Only" improved keypad!!

Pad Mate® for the membrane keypad itself.
Perma-Pad for the membrane keypad installed in your phone. That's right... a different name for the same part after it's installed.

Why two names?? Barclay's advertising is geared to make you believe they have an improved rubber keypad. They provide you with pictures of the clear Pad Mate® resting on the OEM keypad in an unnatural manner that is impossible to see that the larger contacts are from the sticker patch and not part of the rubber keypad itself.

It is important to note that the Pad Mate® is never installed on the rubber keypad as pictured above. The membrane sticks to the circuit board not the rubber keypad.
Naming a copy of our repair part is misleading, but multiple names for the same item was a willful and planned deception.

This was a well planned lie, far in advance. Filing for trademarks and registered names, paperwork, web design, pictures and advertisements... even a movie!

Could there be another explanation? Chris or Rick... break you vow of silence and let us know what else it could be: email

More False Statements....
Direct quotes from Barclay's advertising

Pad Mate® Lie #1

Super-thin, but super-durable, polycarbonate substrate --- built to withstand hundreds of thousands of actuations (presses)... way beyond the contacts on traditional "elastomeric rubber" keypads.

The "contacts" are made with carbon paint that easily scrapes off, not a "super-durable, polycarbonate substrate" as they claim.

Pad Mate® Lie #2

Conductive carbon contacts won't degrade or break down the way the soft conductive material does in traditional rubber keypads. Superior to so-called "improved" keypads that rely on the same bad conductive material used in your original defective keypad!

Conductive carbon painted contacts are notorious for wearing off, sometimes depositing conductive material on the key switch shorting it out locking up all keypad buttons. The carbon contacts on the Pad Mate are easily scratched off.

It's also important to note that the problems with the OEM keypad in question are not the longevity of the rubber, or the carbon pills. It's the contact size of the OEM keypad that is the issue. In fact, the Pad Mate relies on the OEM rubber keypad. If the OEM rubber keypad rips or the carbon pills wear on the edges, the Pad Mate® will suffer for it just the same!

Membrane keypads rely on the OEM keypad with the small contacts. The membrane (thin material) is only pushed down where the original small contacts are. The useable size of the membrane contacts is negligibly larger. The main benefit of membrane keypads in this case is to block the excessive oil from the OEM keypad. Something Barclay Enterprises still denies to this day. See Barclay's "Spittle Theory" regarding "Environmental Gunk" (Click Here)

Yes, when we first advertised our membrane keypad we did talk about the size of the contacts. Our membrane keypad did have the largest contacts available. At the time we were up against Barclay's false claims that Panasonic had improved the OEM keypad to eliminate the problem and his denial that oil from the keypad was the real issue.

Pad Mate® Lie #3

The Pad Mate's® conductive contacts are supersized to 7 mm in diameter to match the corresponding 7mm contacts on the circuit board. This delivers a whopping 206% more surface area than the 4mm contacts on the original Panasonic keypad! You won't find larger contacts for the KX-TGA400B and KX-TGA200B handsets on the market.

The usable contact size is quite important here. The Pad Mate's usable contact size is not even one half of a millimeter larger than the original 4mm. We showed this in our video comparing the keypads. Watch the movie
