This is Barclay's New keypad comparison found on eBay auctions starting in late February 2009

Here Barclay compares his copy of our old membrane keypad repair to our real improved keypad.

Barclay's misleading advertisement

Our response

Barclay lies and exaggerates in every single point he makes.

The "amazing" Pad-Mate keypad membrane is a blatant copy of our membrane keypad repair that Barclay viciously attacked for over 20 months before copying it.
  • We design and build our own membrane keypads in-house.
  • Barclay out-sourced our membrane to the lowest bidder.
  • Membrane keypads are cheaper. If they were really better we would still be using them in the KX-TGA400b phones.
"A super durable conductive graphite polymer"

We build our membranes using carbon material.
Barclay's are made with silk screened conductive paint. The cheapest substance available for contacts. It is not super-durable! With excessive use the paint does and will flake off shorting out and locking up ALL the buttons, not just the one having trouble.
This movie shows how "durable" his contacts are in comparison.

Our membrane keypad also had 7mm conductive pads. They can be designed with 10mm pads. The larger size is irrelevant when you have a 4mm pad pushing down on it. Barclays usable pad size is about 4.1mm
The material was never the problem. It is the SIZE of the usable material that was the issue. The phone is designed for 6mm pads. 7mm pads are both useless and a gross exaggeration.
You mean spit Barclay? Your quote: "There is only one source... human spit" That gunk right? The gunk that voids your warranty. The "gunk" effects the small contacts very quickly but not contacts of the correct size. Your membrane protects only the number keys less than half the buttons. We tested our keypads and not only are the contacts the correct size, but they contain much less "gunk" than the original known defective keypad that you use & claim Panasonic improved.
"Don't be fooled by lifetime warranties on a keypad" Your words Barclay, when you attacked our lifetime warranty for over a year before copying it. Now you repeatedly claim to have the only one. A warranty is worthless when backed up by dishonest people.... and you certainly qualify.

Sure... our self installed membrane keypad was the only keypad we didn't offer a lifetime warranty on. That's because we could not remain honest while warranting someone else's installation on a part that only repairs half the buttons. It's easy for you... you have no integrity.

1 As of 02/10/2009
Our do-it-yourself REAL rubber keypad has always had a lifetime warranty! You know Barclay... the warranty you claimed was a scam for over a year before copying it. How could you forget? Ah, yes... you didn't forget, you just can't handle truth.

Here are exact quotes from Barclay's past eBay auctions right down to their font, color and highlight choice.
(I think they forgot)

THE COMPETITION'S "LIFETIME WARRANTY"

"Lifetime" warranties are always suspicious, particularly when they involve something that's bound to eventually wear out! Beware of anyone offering a "lifetime warranty" on a keypad! It is a misleading promise that has nothing to do with "lifetime", and it is intended to lure you in. Read the fine print of their keypad warranty... you'll be surprised to see what you're really getting!

BOTTOM LINE: You're better off dealing with a reputable company that's upfront and will be around to honor their two year warranty than someone who desperately attempts to gull you with a bogus "lifetime warranty"!

Two year warranty on keypad failure --- covers ALL buttons --- not just a select few! --- as well as the entire membrane from splitting and cracking.  Naturally excludes failure due to user damage, liquids & other foreign matter.

Naturally excludes failure due to user damage, liquids & other foreign matter.
Naturally excludes "gunk" build up... that's what you're trying to say, right?!

So your "reputable" two year warranty was voided by what you describe now (above) as the reason they break. So this is your "reputation".... nice.

Here is the main picture they show you on eBay for their Perma-Pad

This is a picture of Panasonic's original known defective keypad!
Barclay does not have an improved rubber keypad!

They have "the only improved keypad" because they are "improving"  the original defective keypad with a membrane.

Here is what they are really selling you

It's a band-aid patch to fix some of the keys on the original (not improved) Panasonic keypad.
The same exact keypad that failed you the first time! For many of you more than once.

Don't be fooled into buying another keypad from Panasonic.
That's where Barclay gets the "improved" rubber keypad they show you from.... Panasonic!

It's a play on words while using deceptive pictures.
Dishonesty at it's best!

The Perma-Pad® consists of a new rubber button keypad...

Identical look and feel of the original Panasonic keypad buttons that you're accustomed to...

They are the original Panasonic keypad buttons!
